Reboot loop

So my Sister has been having some network issues in her house. This morning I went over there to setup a new router for her. That all seemed to go fine, but when I went to test the TiVos in the house to make sure everything was working the Mini in her bedroom locked up and then rebooted. Now it seems to be stuck in a perpetual reboot loop at the "welcome starting up" screen. I even brought it over to my house and attached it to one of my TVs with my power cord to make sure it wasn't something specific to her wiring. It still loops.

I watched mine boot up and after the welcome screen you see a little flash of the light on the front, like it's reading the drive, then you get the "almost there" screen. On my Sister's I never see the little light flash. It gets to where it should flash, the TV goes blank, then you see the welcome screen again. It's kind of acting like a TiVo with a dead hard drive.

Does TiVo offer any sort of out of warranty discount for a replacement? Or should she just buy a new one from Amazon?

considering buying a used, 'unopened' Tivo Mini 9300.
Tivo says it has lifetime, but can't confirm if there's warranty on it, which I don't believe there is, since it's over three months since purchase.
Are these things relatively bullet-proof, i.e. if the box is truly unopened then there's a good chance it's going to work?
Anyone ever get a dead Mini that was 'new'?

Mini not staying on specified MOCA channel

So I have a tivo Bolt set up as my moca bridge and it connects flawlessly. I have it set to channel 19 in the moca settings. I then try to connect the tivo mini that is upstairs (and on the same coax network) and it is successful when set to channel 19. My issue is that periodically the tivo mini and bolt will change the channel they are set to causing the mini to not recognize the bolt. Any suggestions or similar problems experienced?

Bolt connected via Wifi + Mini over Moca?

Hi All,

This is my first post here and was hoping for a bit of help 'cos this is new to me. I dropped DirecTv and have now cut the cord, hopefully for good. I have done it in the past but ridiculous limitations always forced me to go back. I recently tried a Tablo but that will be sold shortly!

Anyway I would like to go with a Tivo Bolt and Mini setup, hopefully using a Moca network. My house, like most, does not have Ethernet connections out the wazoo, so I have used wireless successfully for all my streaming needs (smart TV, Roku ... etc).

Sorry for the long-winded post, I have a few questions regarding the Tivo setup that I am contemplating, which is the Bolt and 1 or more Minis.

I would prefer not to run new RG6 wiring so can I connect a TiVo Bolt to the network via WiFi (line-of-sight in the same room), and then use the Bolt to create a Moca network for a Mini?

Basically:
Router --> Wifi --> Bolt --> Mini-over-Moca

Control power of multiple devices with TiVo remote?

I just got a TiVo mini and I also have a soundbar that I use with the tv. Is there anyway to turn both the tv and soundbar on with the remote that comes with the Mini? I have a bunch of programmable remotes, but I need one that works in RF mode because the Mini is behind the tv. I know I could buy a TiVo slide, but I'd rather not spend the money if there's another option.

How well do the Minis pair with Bolt?

I just bought a Bolt a couple weeks ago and am going to expand my TiVo network via Minis shortly.

Just like the title of the thread asks, how well do the Minis pair with the Bolt? The real question is, lets say I have a Bolt and 2 Minis. What features does the Bolt have that the Minis do not and will not have? For instance, SkipMode, I'd read that you cannot use that with the Minis...yet. Anything else?

I have no idea how Mini remotes differ from Bolt Remotes, if at all. Can Bolt remotes be purchased separately and paired to Minis? I would only ponder this if and only if there would be an advantage to using a Bolt remote with a Mini.

If I remember correctly, there's a Remote Find feature on the Bolt. Do the Minis support this, as well?

I've also read about the Minis losing RF connection.

$10 Universal Remote Solution

I just installed a Mini in my gym connected to an old HP LCD that is not in the TiVo remote database. Not wanting to have to deal with 2 remotes, I was looking for a cheaper solution than a TiVo slide (which could learn the HPs power/volume from the TV remote) for a location that is certainly not a prime viewing spot.

For $10 I got the RCA Rcrps04Gr from Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o01_s00 )which works fine with TiVo and has learning capability for the problematic HP TV. The IR signal is strong enough that it works flawlessly on the TiVo Mini, even though it is mounted w/ Velcro on the back of the TV. The TV is mounted on an arm in the corner of the room so I guess it is getting good IR signal reflections off the ceiling and wall.

RF remote problem when Tivo Mini mounted right behind TV?

I just did a setup where I mounted a Tivo Mini on the wall just behind a small 24" Vizio TV on the wall. You couldn't see the mini at all. The RF remote worked at the beginning, then eventually failed to control the Mini at all. When you hard power cycle the Mini, it then works again for several minutes and then you can't control it again.

I ended up dangling it down below the TV and will mount it there flat against the wall eventually.

Is RF remote interference from TVs a common problem with these Minis, or do I have an actual problem with the Mini in question?

IR Sensor location

Having spent the last 3 hours searching, I'm giving up in hopes someone has the answer here.
I need to put an IR extender in my system, but have yet to be able to locate the IR sensor on my Mini.
Anyone?

TiVo Mini on Amazon $110.95

Amazon has the TiVo Mini listed for sale for almost $40 less than the TiVo website sells it for. It is listed as "TiVo Mini with RF Remote (Current Version)" and is Item model number: TCDA93000
My concern is does it come with lifetime (All new ones sold by TiVo do) or is there a monthly charge with it. Has anyone ordered the mini through Amazon and did it come with lifetime.

TiVo Mini Apps - Are they dependent on main box?

Hello,

I'm new to the TiVo world via my cable provider (Armstrong Cable). They've provided me with a Pace MG1 box (6 tuners and 1TB HD) and a Pace Mi3 (their version of minis) and unfortunately, they don't provide access to Netflix nor Amazon Prime apps. I'm considering purchasing my own mini to avoid paying the $5 fee I pay per month for the Pace Mi3 box and was wondering if I'd also get the ability to stream netflix from the Mini box even if not available on the main Pace MG1. I'm not really sure if the apps are loaded to the OS of the mini box or if everything is coming from the main box.

Thanks

HDCP not enabled all of a sudden

I have a Mini hooked up to a Roamio Plus via MoCa that just started with the HDCP not enabled messages.

I've had the Mini (v2) since August '15 and it worked great until this past Sunday. I moved the TV/mini combination and all of a sudden the mini shows the HDMI Connection not permitted message when trying to watch live or recorded shows.

The Roamio works well - no problems there.

I've unplugged the entire set up (TV, mini, HDMI cables, coax) and plugged everything back in and still have the same message. Swapped out HDMI cables, still nada.:(

The mini's running 20.5.4a.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Don

Used TiVo Mini - how I got it working

Just posting this to save someone the time and headache I went through setting up a USED TiVo Mini I bought off Amazon.

First, I had to call into Tivo to get it activated. You can't do this over the web for a used unit. Customer service is only open 7A-7P Pacific Time, so be ready for that.

They're going to want a ticket number from you. If the seller doesn't call into TiVo themselves and notify them that it's been sold, TiVo won't activate the unit for you. Fortunately, the seller I had on Amazon was really cool and called right away. The seller then gave me a ticket number, which I gave to customer service.

Good to go? Not yet.

I couldn't get the Mini to "see" my Roamio on the home network. Forced connection to TiVo at least 20 times on both units. I was concerned it was because I was using ethernet over my power lines, not MoCa.

Tried everything. Opening ports on my router. Rebooted EVERYTHING several times. Setting a fixed IP address. Kept getting the message "cannot find Office Box." Eventually, it "saw" my Roamio, but would only play recorded files, nothing "live" off the tuner. "Dammit," I thought, "I bought a brick."

Then it hit me.

I didn't do the most basic thing I should have. Reset to factory settings. Duh. All these days, all these futile Google searches. Reset. TiVo Central > Settings & Messages > Help > Restart or Reset System.

Done. I now have glorious live TV in my bedroom. And I only paid $65 for a used Mini!

Mini/Bolt connection

My bolt is connected via fios moca. Can I just run an Ethernet cable from the bolt to a mini and be done or do I need to connect it via moca? Or can I run an Ethernet from my router? Does it need any other connection? No fios cable other than if I use moca, right?

MOCA not working so great...

So I am regretting my purchase of MOCA adapters as it seems like my router bridge works good enough. Though as I spent money on them...I might as well use them. At first I was having issues getting the MOCA adapter that is attached to the cable modem and router to recognize the coax, then randomly it did. It worked for about a month, then a couple days ago it stopped working. The coax light is now off, I can't explain this. Nothing has changed on my network.

Restrict Mini?

I'm thinking of putting a Mini in my guest bedroom to replace an old Series 2 Tivo that uses a cable box and is only standard def. But my house guests often have kids and I'm not sure I trust them not to delete (probably accidentally) programs off my Roamio.

Is there any ability to restrict "deletes" to only the Roamio? Short of that, could I restrict the mini to Live TV only and no recorded content?

Most of my guests would be happy just to have all the live channels in HD and not really need the recorded shows anyway.

So, is either of the above possible?

Audio from Netflix dropping out occasionally

Has anyone had the issue of the audio dropping from a Netflix stream every 30 sec to minute? The drop is very quick, only 0.5 sec or so, but it's enough to be annoying. The video continues as normal (No pixelation or reduction of video quality). This is a new issue that has not shown itself before and has been flawless for over a year.

Can I use Mini to watch shows on windows PC?

Is there any way to use Mini so you can watch your shows on a desktop computer running Windows?

I believe you can watch shows on Android but not on Windows. Any ideas?

Please let me know. Thanks.
